A subscription that knows about refunds
If you get a refund from the App Store or Google Play, Premium ends. And if you have a payment problem with Apple, Premium stays with you through the grace period.

The route over the last 30 minutes reached Android. Anyone without a tracker yet found a link in the app to order one.

On iPhone you could see your dog's route over the last 30 minutes and switch to a satellite map. Android got the satellite map the same week.

The first trackers went out to a Slovak distributor.

A manual in three languages
The tracker's manual came out in Czech, Slovak and English. The hardware was funded mainly by the family business that is also behind the Peyda treats and accessories.

Delete your account in the app
Your account and all its data could be deleted right in the app: on Android from August, on iPhone from January 2025.

The tracker went on sale in the peyda.cz shop, right next to the Peyda Snack treats.

On sale at last
We started selling Peyda in person, at trade fairs and weekend markets. The website got Czech copy and our trump card: a battery that lasts, thanks to NB-IoT.

Cloudflare at the front door
We put Cloudflare in front of our API. From March, the collars sent their positions through it too.

The backend learnt to keep track of Google Play subscriptions and to send notifications to your phone.

The iPhone app speaks Czech
In twelve days we rebuilt the core of the app: the welcome, sign-in, the map with its bottom panel and a colour-coded battery gauge. And, at last, in proper Czech.

Add a tracker with its QR code
Just point the camera at the QR code on the back of the tracker. You can also rename a tracker or remove it.

New foundations for the backend
We rebuilt the backend on NestJS. It still stands on those foundations today.

Android, refreshed
New icons, a dark mode with a night map and, above all, the home screen the app still has today: the map, with a panel of trackers beneath it.

A designer drew our logo and app icon, and the trackers got their production labels.

The first real walks
The app “Peyda – sledování psů” reached friends and family. Trackers paired by QR code, and outdoors we fine-tuned the collars, the SIM cards and the battery life.

We wrote it in SwiftUI from the very first line.

The first positions in the cloud
We got the backend running. Positions from the collars started arriving in the cloud, and we keep seven days of history.

A tracker from Vimron
We moved to a tracker that the Slovak company Vimron designed specifically for animals. We still rely on it today.

A first prototype on the collar
The first sample trackers arrived, and until the end of the year we tested them outdoors, on real dogs.

A tracker for dogs that keeps going
The project began as PEYDA.PET. The idea came from the founder's father, who made dog treats and had earlier built and sold a fleet-tracking business. We bet on NB-IoT, the network for small devices that have to last a long time on a battery.

Why Peyda
Because of pejda, the fond Czech word for a dog that we have always used at home. We registered our first domain, peyda.ch.
This is where it all began: March 2019, a first domain and a name for a dog.
